East Ayrshire Community HospitalEast Ayrshire Community Hospital admitted its first patients in August 2000 and impressed all who came to see the building. It was built as a replacement for Ballochmyle Hospital, near Mauchline, and is sited on Ayr Road, within walking distance of Cumnock town centre. For patients outside Cumnock, the hospital is easily reached by public transport.
The new hospital had a budget of £9.5 million and has a 24-bed GP medium acute/rehabilitation unit; 50 continuing care and respite beds for the frail and elderly; a 24-place day hospital and an out-patient department.
