ParksWoodroad Park was created in 1935 when 25 acres of land was acquired for £500. The main feature of the park was the swimming pool which was opened in June 1936 (the pool closed in 2003 and is now demolished). Other facilities included tennis courts, a putting green, and playing fields. In 1937, ground at Stepends Bing was donated to Cumnock Burgh by Lady Talbot de Malahide of Auchinleck. After 1945 an open-air dance floor was created. In 1951 a children`s play park was donated by the Round Table. In 1953 a bridge was erected connecting the park to the Glebe. Later a camping site was established and the park became a popular tourist destination. The Park saw its share of day trips and events like cyclists` rallies but now most of the facilities are no longer available.
Murray Park
Murray Park was opened on 21st September 1929 by Mrs. HYSLOP of Bank House. In 1917, the funds for the park were left to Cumnock inhabitants by Misses Annie and Agnes MURRAY who had owned Dumfries House.
