Background

Cumnock Living Memory Group – or CUMLIMEG as we call ourselves – is a small group of seniors, men and women, none of whom originated in Cumnock but who have all lived here for many years. Our shared interest is the past and how it has influenced the present.

The history of the group began in 1995 when we first came together as a reminiscence group. Gradually we began to record our memories in print, on tape, and on video. The results include two books Dae ye min’ lang syne? and Tales from Cumlimeg , as well as an audio tape produced primarily for the visually impaired, a schooldays video, and our latest offering a Website in which we trace the history of Cumnock and remember some of the people who shaped our town.

We hope that, as you browse, you find something of interest or relevance. We realise that there is much to be added to the Website and we would welcome your comments, suggestions, and where applicable, your input.
