Cumnock Public School

Cumnock Public School in Barrhill Road was erected in 1875 and cost £2700 - it officially opened on 6th October 1876. The architect was R.S.INGRAM. The first "joint" headmasters were David SCOTT and Robert BROWN. Mr Scott retired in 1892 and Mr Brown continued until 1899. John DICK was the next headmaster followed by Andrew MARTIN and John EDGAR, the latter being also an ex-provost. The building was demolished in 1974.
