Scottish Squirrel Group

The Scottish Squirrel Group exists to provide a two-way channel of communication to facilitate co-ordinated action of squirrel management between all those involved in, and interested in, conserving Scotland's red squirrels for the future. The group consists of representatives from a wide variety of conservation groups (both government and non-government) and commercial bodies. Chaired by the Forestry Commission and Scottish Natural Heritage local groups such as Ayrshire Red Squirrel group also attend meetings to feedback on progress made in their area and to receive the latest information on research and policy. The group has been involved in the development of the Scottish Squirrel Strategy (Feb 2004) and the subsequent Scottish Red Squirrel Action Plan 2006-2011.
