Scottish Squirrel Group
The Scottish Squirrel Group exists to coordinate and guide the work of local squirrel groups and to establish policies regarding
the conservation of the Red Squirrel in Scotland. The group consists of representatives from a wide variety of conservation groups
(both government and non-government) and commercial bodies. Chaired by the Forestry Commission and Scottish Natural Heritage local groups
such as Ayrshire Red Squirrel group also attend meetings to feedback on progress made in their area and to receive the latest information
on research and policy. The group is currently developing a Scottish Squirrel Strategy and identifying priority woods. These are woods
where there is thought to be the most chance of the survival of the red squirrel.
To contact any representative of another group please feel free to email them. Even if you see a squirrel while you’re away on holiday
report it as there is always someone wanting to know where their reds and greys are.
